With all the usual ingredients for another splendid Beth O’Leary book it’s such a shame I didn’t like this as much as the others. Perhaps if something had properly got me hooked early on, I would have been more invested in how it panned out, but ultimately I was confused and underwhelmed. No doubt I will buy her next one without reading the blurb too though…

It’s Valentine’s Day and Siobhan, Miranda, and Jane have all been stood up by their dates – but what they don’t all realise is it’s all the same man. As each of them begin to unravel the pieces of their boyfriend’s love life and start to learn that it’s not just them he’s been seeing and they must work out what to do before they each fall in love with him and it’s too late. But is all as it seems? And is Joseph Carter really the player they think he is?
I love Beth O’Leary, in fact I’m pretty sure I bought this book without even reading the blurb – that’s how much I trust I’ll like the book. The Flatshare, The Road Trip, and The Switch were all 5 and 4 star reads for me so I was really excited to get stuck into another loveable romance….

Summary

Unfortunately that would not be the case this time. It’s hard for me to put into words the exact reason I was disappointed with this book without spoiling it… what I will say is that O’Leary was ambitious with this plot and I commend her for that, but I think re-reading it would be a very different experience knowing what I know now.
