There for a girls’ weekend to celebrate Bridgette’s impending seventieth birthday, the spa soon has these spicy sexagenarians realising that there are unexpected benefits to age and experience, and that over the hill certainly doesn’t mean out of the game…in any respect…
In The Spa Break, Bridgette stays in a glamping tent and is encouraged to go out of her comfort zone and enjoy naturism. While researching the benefits of naturism for the book, I was intrigued by the fact that British Naturism reported a 100% rise in new members during Lockdown. Was it the warm summer weather? My neighbour is partial to strutting around the garden in the altogether, but I am yet to be convinced!

More about the Author
As I celebrate the publication of my new book, The Spa Break, I’d like to thank you for inviting me to your lovely blog to discuss ten things about myself. Like the characters in the book, I am now ‘of a certain age.’ In many ways, some of their antics reflect my own as I stay determined to live life to the full.
I once kissed David Walliams at the BAFTAS.

The Spa Break – The laugh-out-loud romantic comedy of the year for fans of The Book Club with Jane Fonda & Judy Leigh!
I get odd looks when I am asked about my love of swimming. Odd because I like to swim in a lake near my home. Yes, it is freezing cold, and yes, it takes your breath away. You think your heart will stop when you plunge in. But, when the body relaxes and settles into the water, and you begin your journey around the lake, the world becomes a magical place. A pair of herons fish on the bank nearby, then raise their magnificent wings and soar above as a gaggle of ducks waddle alongside and say hello. It is an exhilarating experience and one to be treasured.

For several years I was a media agent representing celebrity chefs. This fascinating job involved a lot of travel to some fabulous places.
I worked for an American company and flew to New York on Concorde. On the flight, aspic in the pre-dinner canapes was contaminated, and I was seriously ill with salmonella poisoning.
I’ve trekked many a mountain in my day, including the Inca trail to Machu Picchu and up and down the tortuous non-tourist route of the Great Wall of China.

I love scones and confidently admit that I make a good one. Cheese scones are my favourite, with a good lashing of butter and a spoonful of chutney.

My favourite TV show is The Great British Pottery Throw Down. I love it. When judge Keith Brymer starts crying with emotion at a clay masterpiece thrown by one of the potters, I am always blubbing away too.
I started writing in my 50s. My first novel was turned down by 82 publishers and agents. I decided to self-publish the story, and it went to #3 in women’s fiction on Amazon.
